CLASSIFICATION OF TOURS

Our classification guide is designed to assist you in choosing a tour that is appropriate for your physical condition, allowing you to make a conscious choice that approximates your real interest and possibility of participation. The right choice will allow you to enjoy your tour better.

In addition to this classification try to know if the tour chosen is a walking or running tour. This can be checked directly on the tour page. Some tours may be appropriate only for those who run. Therefore, we suggest a lot of attention in your choice.

We distribute the classification in 6 levels represented by the Rio Running tour icon. The classification of a tour at a certain level means that the tour has most of the characteristics described for it or all characteristics. But attention! This classification concerns only the physical effort to take the tour.

When any tour requires some technical ability that needs to use safety equipment and other more specific characteristics, you will have this information on the tour page and will be informed directly by our team in case you actually do the tour.

The classification of physical effort used by us is based on the classification of the Mountain Sports Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FEMERJ). And our position to inform clients of more technical details about the tour, through ABNT NBR 15286 (Minimum Preliminary Information to Customers), on the occasion of the hiring and on the day of the tour, intentions to comply with the requirements of the Brazilian Association of Standards Techniques for Adventure Tourism (ABNT).

LIGHT

  • Duration: up to 1 hour

  • Distance: up to 3 km

  • Altitude: up to 200 meters

  • Obstacles: few simple obstacles

  • Floor: regular

  • Own classification of Rio Running Tour: We also classify in this category the urban tours that can happen during a whole day, but made by taxi or car, as it is the case of the complete City Tour involving the main tourist points of the city and that are distant from each other and that can be done by Clients not practicing physical exercise.

                                        

 

LIGHT UPPER

 

 

  • Duration: from 1 to 2 hours

  • Distance: up to 6 km

  • Altitude: from 200 to 400 meters

  • Obstacles: few simple obstacles

  • Floor: slightly irregular

  • Own classification of Rio Running Tour: We also classify in this category the tours realized in the urban environment, like the City Running tours, with up to 7 km. Remember that in this case we consider that the customer is a runner and has a routine of running training on asphalt of at least 30 km weekly.

                                                  

 

MODERATE

 

 

 

 

  • Duration: from 2 to 4 hours

  • Distance: up to 12 km

  • Altitude: from 400 to 600 meters

  • Obstacles: there are obstacles

  • Floor: irregular

  • Own classification of Rio Running Tour: We also classify in this category the tours made in the urban environment, such as the City Running tours, from 12km to 18km, as well as the Trail Running Tours, with the classifications described above. Remember that in this case we consider that the customer is a runner and has a routine of running training on asphalt of at least 40 km weekly and / or have a habit of hiking or running in trails with the characteristics described above.

                                                  

MODERATE UPPER

  • Duration: from 4 to 6 hours

  • Distance: up to 18 km

  • Altitude: from 600 to 800 meters

  • Obstacles: many obstacles

  • Floor: irregular floors and places where it is necessary to use the hands to maintain balance and / or ascend

  • Own classification of Rio Running Tour: For you to participate in the Trail Running Tours with this classification, to take better advantage of the tour, we recommend that the choice is made by clients who have a routine of running training on asphalt of at least 50 km weekly and / or have a habit of hiking or running in Trails with the characteristics described above.

                                                  

 

HARD

 

  • Duration: from 6 to 8 hours

  • Distance: up to 24 km

  • Altitude: from 800 to 1200 meters

  • Obstacles: many obstacles or big obstacles

  • Floor: irregular floors and places where it is necessary to use the hands to maintain balance and / or ascend

  • Own classification of Rio Running Tour: For you to participate in the Trail Running Tours with this classification, to take better advantage of the tour, we recommend that the choice is made by clients who have a routine of running training on asphalt of at least 70 km weekly and, OBLIGATORY, have a habit of running in Trails with the characteristics described above.

                                                  

HARD UPPER

 

  • Duration: from 8 to 12 hours

  • Distance: up to 36 km

  • Altitude: from 1200 to 2000 meters

  • Obstacles: many obstacles or big obstacles

  • Floor: irregular floors and places where it is necessary to use the hands to maintain balance and / or ascend

  • Own classification of Rio Running Tour: For you to participate in the Trail Running Tours with this classification, to take better advantage of the tour, we recommend that the choice is made by clients who have a routine of running training on asphalt of at least 70 km weekly and, OBLIGATORY, have a habit of running in Trails with the characteristics described above.
